26a, Diana Evans’s debut novel, was published in 2005. The novel was met with huge critical acclaim and it received the Orange Award for New Writers, Betty Trask Award and the Decibel Writer of the Year award. 26a was shortlisted for the Whitbread First Novel Award, The Guardian First Book Award, the Commonwealth Best First Book Award, The Times/Southbank Show Breakthrough Award and it was also longlisted for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.

Set partly in Neasden, a North West London neighbourhood, and partly in Lagos, Nigeria, 26a covers the period of the 1980s and 1990s. It opens with the royal wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1981 …
