Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Prison Diaries is the translation of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Karagarer Rojnamcha. The Bengali book is based on five notebooks he was able to access when in prison to write down his observations about life there, as well as his own feelings and thoughts about imprisonment and the political situation of the country at the time. The first of these notebooks was probably penned in 1966; the second consists of diary entries from June 2, 1966 to July 17, 1966; the third continues with entries from July 18 to September 16 of that year but ends with a note on “Prison Visits”; the fourth has entries from January1 to June 22, 1967.
