How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia (2013) is Mohsin Hamid’s third novel and the first published after he returned around 2009/2010 to live in his home city, Lahore, in northwest Pakistan, following years studying and working in the US and then the UK. Shortlisted for the Haus der Kulturen der Welt International Literature Award, DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, and KLF Embassy of France Prize, the novel went on to win Italy’s Tiziano Terzani International Literary Prize (jointly with Italian poet Pierluigi Cappello’s prose work Questa Liberta).
