L’indomani is Italian woman writer Neera’s tenth novel, published in 1889 as part of a trilogy of novels (Teresa, Lydia and L’indomani) dedicated to the exploration of post-Unification Italian reality “dalla parte di lei” [from the female perspective] (qtd. in Arslan, Dame, galline e regine 128). In this novel Neera explores fin de siècle female reality within marriage, criticizing the way bourgeois society “prepares” women for wifedom with false expectations.
