Parliament discusses the possibility of urging war on Spain. This becomes known as the debate on Jenkins' Ear, due to Spaniards having pillaged Captain Jenkins' ship in 1731, set it adrift and cut off his ear. However, Walpole delays a declaration of war until October 1739.
