A member of the Italian Neorealist literary tradition, Francesco Jovine was an energetically active author during the period prior to and following World War II. In addition to composing works of fiction, he was a prolific journalist and literary critic. Ethical-political concerns become increasingly prevalent in his writing and drive his literary realism.
Jovine was born into a simple farming family in 1902 in the small city of Guardialfiera in Italy’s central region of Molise.
