Gerhard Roth’s first published book relating the minute and shifting thoughts of a delusional and paranoid protagonist, die autobiographie des albert einstein [the autobiography of albert einstein] (1972), was an immediate success. He became well known as one of the avant-garde group of young Forum Stadtpark artists in his hometown of Graz, Austria. He has long been acclaimed as a major German language writer. Often on the best-seller list in Austria, he has also worked in film-making, produced experimental montage works, and created stunning large-sized books of photographs with some commentary.
