Playwright, dramaturge, director, translator, and actor Guillermo Verdecchia is a prominent figure in the Canadian theatrical landscape, known equally for his powerful solo performance and for intercultural collaborative engagements that generate politically incisive theatre. His work employs documentary material, autobiography, and metatheatrical devices to challenge totalizing national mythologies and induce spectators to consider what it means to be a global citizen. The source material of his theatre is derived from knowledge that is situated and contingent on an examination of identity and cultural positions in flux.
