Miriam Dworkin Waddington (1917-2004) was a Jewish Canadian poet and literary critic who actively contributed to the rise of modernist poetry in Canada and the study of Canadian Literature as an academic field. Her accomplished body of poetry, which spans over half a century, has been praised for its lyricism and directness. As a literary critic and scholar, she edited the work of prominent male modernists such as A.M. Klein and John Sutherland. She also edited and translated the work of marginalized Canadian writers in a collection of short stories, Canadian Jewish Short Stories (1990), which includes Yiddish translations.
