Selina, Countess of Huntingdon, established Trevecca College in 1768 for the training of students for the Christian ministry and also a church grouping known as the Countess of Huntingdon Connexion, still extant today.

Due to her own expressed desire for anonymity, the remarkable achievements of this influential woman were little known for many decades following her death in 1791. Only more recently has there been a resurgence of interest in the Countess of Huntingdon as she has become the subject of some research and a number of biographical works.
