Saleha Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi writer, now resident in the United Kingdom. A voluminous writer, she has more than 70 books to her credit, including novels, short stories, essays, and poems. Though she mainly writes in Bangla, she also has some publications in English. She is also a translator and has translated from English to Bangla and vice versa. She has received numerous awards, including the Anannya Literary Award in 2009 and the Bangla Academy Probasi Lekhok Puroshkar [Foreign Writers Award] in 2012. This award, given to writers from outside Bangladesh who contribute to Bangla literature, was renamed the Syed Waliullah Award in 2014.
