Jackie Kabir

Jackie Kabir is an English Language teacher, writer and translator from Bangladesh. Her collection of short stories, Silent Noise, was published in 2016. Some of her stories are included in Ninth Edge (2012), Sticks and Stones (2012), and Gantha Miscellany (2020). She has also contributed to Stories from the Edge: Personal Narratives of the Liberation War (2017). Her translations have been included in Contemporary Short Stories from Bangladesh (2010); Fugitive Colours (2010); Dawn of the Waning Moon (2012); Lilies, Lanterns, Lullabies (2014); A Temporary Sojourn and Other Stories (2016);  and Spiders and Other Stories (2016). She is also a contributor to Kazi Nazrul Islam: Selections (2020). Some of her scholarly essays have been published in Indian Booker Prize Winners: A Critical Study of Their Work (2009), Kiran Desai: A Critical Response to Her Work (2010), Atlantic Review of Feminist Studies (2013), and Asiatic: IIUM Journal of English Language and Literature (2020). She has translated Selina Hossain’s River of My Blood (Rupa) and co-translated her Charcoal Portrait (Palimpest). She also participated in the group translation of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s Bandhon Hara as Unfettered.
