Giose Rimanelli was born in Casacalenda (Molise), Italy, on November 28, 1925. The majority of his biography can be gleaned from his various novels, starting with Tiro al piccione [The Day of the Lion] (1953), his first published novel, and ending with Il viaggio [The Voyage] (2003), his last. The largest portion of his life history is present in two of his books: his mini-memoir Molise Molise (1979), and his narrative Familia: la storia dell’emigrazione [Family: The History of Emigration] (2000).
