Giovanni Battista Angioletti (Milan 1896 - Naples 1961) was an important Italian author during the period between the two world wars. He was born into a relatively well-off family that belonged to Milan’s middle class and spent his childhood years in that city. In 1915 he was called up and, like many young men of his generation, experienced personally the drama of the First World War. On his return home at the end of hostilities, he found that society had changed and was in a state of turmoil full of dangerous tensions.
