Raj Kamal Jha is both Chief Editor of The Indian Express – a newspaper that has thrice won the International Press Institute’s India Award for Excellence in Journalism – and an award-winning author. His literary work is characterised by a playful magic-realist style, which is used to serious effect in order to “speak the unspeakable” (a phrase that crops up in two of his novels).
