Dorothy Edwards is remembered as the author of a volume of short stories, Rhapsody (1927) and a novel, Winter Sonata, published the following year. Although both of these books were received with enthusiasm during her lifetime, they have since met with a neglect that is as perplexing as it is unmerited, for they are undoubtedly the products of a peculiar and original genius.
Dorothy Edwards was born on the 18th of August 1903 in the South Welsh mining community of Ogmore Vale, where her father was headmaster and her mother a class teacher at the local primary school.
