In the posthumously published Synspunktet for min Forfatter-Virksomhed [The Point of View for My Work as an Author] the Danish philosopher, theologian, and litterateur Søren Kierkegaard declared that his authorship began with the 1843 novel Enten – Eller [Either/Or] (29)—despite the fact that it was preceded by a number of articles, a monographic literary review, and a published dissertation.
