Amitav Ghosh’s non-fiction The Great Derangement: Climate Change and the Unthinkable is a literary introspection on the relationship of humanity with ‘nature’ which explores the literary, historical, and political treatments of the civilizational crisis of climate change. The genesis of the book lies in Ghosh’s memory of a devastating tornado that took its route through the campus of Delhi University in the early evening of 17 March 1978, killing 32 and injuring more than 700 people within five minutes.
