Behind the Scenes at the Museum (1995) is Kate Atkinson’s debut novel and winner of the 1995 Whitbread Book of the Year Prize. In the years since its publication, the novel has received significant academic attention. Behind the Scenes established Atkinson’s interest in the female point of view, a trend which became established in a number of works since, including: Transcription (2018): Human Croquet (1997), Emotionally Weird (2000), and Life after Life (2013).
