In her novel trilogy, Mirror in Darkness, Storm Jameson re-introduces Hervey Russell, the semi-autobiographical character whom Jameson claimed “is and is not me”, and whose fictional family first appeared in the earlier Triumph of Time trilogy. Although written in the 1930s, the Mirror in Darkness novels (Company Parade, Love in Winter and None Turn Back) depict the developments of Hervey's private life, literary career, and awakening political consciousness against the complex political backdrop of 1920s London.
