Along with The Glass Menagerie and A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is one of Tennessee Williams’s most well-known plays. Originally produced on Broadway at the Morosco Theatre in New York, the play received nearly unanimous praise for its captivating characters and controversial subject matter. By the close of its 694 performances on Broadway, the play had earned Williams his second Pulitzer Prize and his third Drama Critics’ Circle Award.
