In November 2022 Graham Swift’s short story “Hinges” was published in the New Yorker. Best known for the Booker-prize-winner Last Orders (1996) and the ever popular Waterland (1983), Swift is less recognised for short fiction. In a critically acclaimed writing career which spans over four decades and was launched through short stories in the late 1970s, Swift has published two short-fiction collections. Over thirty years separate the publication of these two volumes: Learning to Swim and Other Stories in 1982, England and Other Stories in 2014.
