Finnboga saga hins ramma [The Saga of Finnboga the Strong] tells the tale of Urðarkǫttr, the unwanted child of the Eyjafjörður chieftain Ásbjǫrn, who is saved and raised by peasants after being exposed to the elements. His uncle Þorgeirr Ljósvetningagoði realizes that he must be the son of Ásbjǫrn, and Urðarkǫttr is then accepted into the family fold. The name Finnbogi is taken from a Norwegian that he saves in a shipwreck, whose last dying wish is that Urðarkǫttr assume his name and possessions.
