Following nine years of rejections, Eimear McBride’s novel, A Girl is a Half-formed Thing, was published by Galley Beggar Press in 2013 and republished in 2014 by Faber in trade paperback. In the US, it was published by Coffee House Press (2014) and Hogarth Press (2015). The novel garnered excellent reviews, most of which focused on McBride’s syncopated prose. David Collard reviewed it first, for The Times Literary Supplement, and he was “repeatedly (as the author puts it) ‘gob-impressed’” (14 June 2013).
