Meatless Days, like other feminist writings, explores women as a social category in both “personal” and “political” terms. Within her searing memoir, the author Sara Suleri looks at the dynamics of Pakistani women’s identity and agency in the context of the patriarchal sociocultural power structures at play, as well as the many ways in which they negotiate with institutions and norms.
