Loquitur brought together a selection of Bunting's work, most of it previously published. Its publication was part of the revival of interest in, and publication of, Bunting's verse in the mid 1960s. It was published in the same year as the First Book of Odes and the earliest appearance of The Spoils in book form. Loquitur contained all the poems which also appeared in The First Book of Odes and five of Bunting's longer poems: “Villon”, “Attis: Or, Something Missing”; “Aus dem Zweiten Reich”, “The Well of Lycopolis” and “Chomei at Toyama”) (all of which had previously appeared in Poems: 1950); Bunting the translator was represented by “How Duke Valentine Contrived” (a …
