A prolific writer and political activist for the socialist cause, André Léo fought for women’s emancipation on multiple fronts during the latter half of the nineteenth century. In addition to contributing to the feminist newspaper Le Droit des femmes, André Léo drafted the 1868 program for the “Société de revendications des droits de la femme”, which brought together notable activists such as Louise Michel and Maria Deraismes (Biarnais 8).
