Visiting Mrs Nabokov and Other Excursions (1993) is Martin Amis’s third nonfiction book and his second collection of essays, reviews and interviews. Like its predecessor, The Moronic Inferno and Other Visits to America (1986), it is lively, impressionistic, and sometimes funny and insightful, especially about literature. Where Inferno contained, an introduction followed by 27 pieces (not in chronological order) first published, between 1977 and 1985, mainly in the Observer, Visiting contains an introduction and 33 pieces (again not in chronological order) first published between 1976 and 1992. 14 pieces appeared in the Observer, three in Esquire and the rest in a variety of newspapers …
