Mrs. Halliburton’s Troubles is the fourth of over thirty popular fiction novels penned by the English author Ellen Wood, who published under the name Mrs. Henry Wood. The work was first published in serial instalments in the religious magazine The Quiver from April 19 to December 6, 1862, and collected into three volumes that year. Wood had been launched into transatlantic fame with her 1861 sensational novel East Lynne, beginning her prolific career as a bestselling novelist and editor.
