Poetic Process: an essay in poetics is a significant contribution to the modern critical understanding of how poems come into being. The inquiry focuses on the process of writing by carefully considering the integrity of art, the activity of perception, and the work of the imagination and its relationships with other aspects of the mind and thought. The argument differentiates the thinking that results in poetry from that which results in science.
