Stevenson’s The Collected Poems 1955-95, Oxford University Press, 1996, comprises over two hundred of the approximately three hundred poems she had published to that date, poems written since she was an undergraduate, that, as she puts it in the Preface, she judges “to be at least half successful”. The collection includes poems from each of her twelve previously published, separate volumes, dating from Living in America, 1965, up to Four and a Half Dancing Men, 1993.
