Minute by Glass Minute, Oxford University Press, 1982, was the fourth collection of Anne Stevenson’s poems to be published in the UK, and sixth overall, the first two having been published in the USA. It contains forty-one new poems, written since Enough of Green, published five years earlier, many of them written while Stevenson was living in the second-hand and antiquarian bookshop town of Hay-on-Wye on the Welsh side of the border with England, running The Poetry Bookshop with the poets Alan Halsey and Michael Farley, whom she later married. The volume is dedicated to Michael Farley.
