Reversals is Anne Stevenson’s second collection of poems, published in 1969, when she was thirty-six, following on from Living in America, published four years earlier. The volume contains forty poems, including some of those already published in Living in America, mostly short lyrics, a few only three or four lines long, arranged into three sections. Most of the poems were first written during the preceding five years, having been published first in various periodicals, including Encounter, Generation, The Massachusetts Review, Michigan Quarterly Review and Open Places.
