All the Pretty Horses is the leading novel of Cormac McCarthy’s Border Trilogy. Set in the rugged topography of the American southwest, with most of the significant action occurring south of the border in northern Mexico, The Crossing and Cities of the Plain are companion pieces to All the Pretty Horses. Additionally, it is relevant to notice that the Border Trilogy roughly follows the locations prominent in McCarthy’s Blood Meridian.
