As Peril at End House begins Hercule Poirot is trying hard to get used to his retired life, but while he and his friend Arthur Hastings are on holiday on the Cornish coast another adventure is thrust upon them. At the Majestic Hotel, they meet a young woman called Magdala Buckley, the youngest generation of the Buckley family, whose family seat is the nearby End House. During a conversation, Nick (the young woman’s nickname) confesses to having escaped from three accidents in the past few days. Even while they are talking, they are annoyed by wasps flying around.
