Le Discours antillais (DA) is a collection of essays by Edouard Glissant, one of the most important writers, thinkers and theorists of the French colonial experience. Caribbean Discourse (CD) is the English translation, by J. Michael Dash, of Le Discours antillais. These complex essays, selected from a body of work published over a ten-year period, are a key to many of the issues, questions and ideas that Glissant’s oeuvre addresses. The essays examine the experiences and realities of the French Caribbean in general, and of Martinique in particular.
