Selected, edited and with an introduction and postscript by Wilson himself, The Essential Colin Wilson was published in the U.K. by Harrap Limited in 1985 and Celestial Arts (Berkeley, CA) in the U.S. a year later. A paperback edition appeared in the U.K. in 1987 published by Grafton. It consists mostly of extracts chosen from his printed books—both fiction and non-fiction—the exception being his essay “Peak Experience” which was published in The Schumacher Lectures Vol. 2 edited by Kumar Satish (London: Blond & Briggs, 1984). It should not be confused with the compact disc of the same title issued by Nimbus Records (Wyastone Leys, Monmouth, 1988) which has different contents.
