Introduction to the New Existentialism is the seventh, and final, volume in Colin Wilson's Outsider Cycle*. It was published by Hutchinson & Co. in April 1966, and by Houghton Mifflin Co., a year later, in the U.S. In his Preface to the 1980 Wildwood House reprint (re-titled The New Existentialism) he explains: “I decided that it was a bit too much to expect my readers to read the [previous] six volumes of my “Outsider Sequence”, and that I would try and summarise its essence in one short volume. The result was... perhaps the best and clearest summary of my central ideas....” (8**)
