With ¿Quién mató a Palomino Molero (1986) [Who Killed Palomino Molero?], Mario Vargas Llosa ventures into the detective novel, a genre that is not found often in the literature of his native Peru, and that has developed its own style in Latin America, different from the classic British ‘whodunit’ or the hard-boiled American variety.
