After the Holmes stories, The Lost World (1912) is probably Arthur Conan Doyle’s next most popular work. It was first published serially in the Philadelphia Press Sunday Magazine (24 March-21 July 1912) and in the London edition of The Strand Magazine (April-November 1912) before being published by Hodder and Stoughton on 15 October 1912. An adventure tale in the tradition of H.
