Patua Gan is a genre of folk music performance given with the help of a scroll painting common to many parts of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India. Scroll painting is one of the traditional art forms on canvas in South Asia, where a series of folk stories based on myths and legends are painted by patua [rural canvas painters]. Narrating stories through a series of paintings on palm leaves, parchment papers, or canvas, as well as on terracotta plaques and wooden planks has been practiced in Bangladesh and West Bengal since the 2^nd century BCE.
