The Duke of Milan, Francesco Sforza, re-entered his duchy. When the territory was overrun by France in 1515, the Sforzas found refuge at the court of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I, but now Francesco returned to claim his inheritance. The French retreat from Lombardy.
