At the Congress of Vienna Maximilian I, Sigismund I of Poland and Ladislas II of Hungary settle points at issue between Poland and the Empire and the succession to the throne of Hungary. Maximilian's grand-daughter Mary is to marry Louis, Prince of Hungary, Ladislas's son, and his grandson Ferdinand to marry Anne Jagiello, heiress to Bohemia and Hungary (as a result of this compact on Louis's death, the Hapsburgs acquire Bohemia and Hungary).
