Sigismund was intimately involved in a variety of struggles that prevented him from assuming the crown of Bohemia after the death of his half-brother, Wencelas. He was frequently engaged in battles against the Turks; he took a hand in attempting to sort out the Great Schism within the Catholic Church, which resulted in the existence of three Popes; he also disliked John Hus and his followers and, throughout the 1420s, engaged in a series of battles against them. Only in 1436 did he finally enter Prague to become King of Bohemia.
