In 1271, Marco Polo, his father, and his uncle set off for Asia on the series of adventures that were later documented in Marco's book, Il Milione (The Travels of Marco Polo/ Books of the Marvels of the World), describing the travels of the latter through Asia, Persia, China, and Indonesia between 1271 and 1291. They returned to Venice in 1295, 24 years later, with many riches and treasures, having travelled almost 15,000 miles.
