The English physician, William Harvey, worked closely with the
Stuart royal family, serving as personal doctor to both James I and
Charles I. He developed his breakthrough explanation of how blood
is circulated through the body early in his career, but it was
published in comprehensive form in 1628 in Frankfurt, as De
Motu Cordis et Sanguinis.
