By the Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle there is a general recognition of the Pragmatic Sanction and Francis I as Holy Roman Emperor and of Frederick II's conquest of Silesia. The French evacuate the Austrian Netherlands, recognise George II as King of Great Britain and transfer Madras to England in exchange for Louisburg (Cape Breton Island). The Spanish Bourbons achieve the ambitions of their mother, Elizabeth Farnese, for Don Philip acquires Parma, Piacenza and Guastella, while Charles Emanuel III of Sardinia receives the Upper Novara and Vigevano in Milan. All other conquests are restored. France emerges from the war considerably wealthier than in 1741.
