U.S. troops, with a small force from 6 Caribbean countries, invaded Grenada on 21 October. After a few days of sporadic fighting, Grenadian militia and Cuban ‘construction workers’ were overcome. The military action was largely popular within the U.S but roundly criticized and condemned as war-mongering around the globe.
