The Malayan Emergency refers to a guerrilla war for independence fought between Commonwealth armed forces and the Malayan National Liberation Army, the military arm of the Malayan Communist Party. The end result was the defeat of Communist guerrillas and the establishment of an independent Federation of Malaya.
