In England, the Little Parliament (also known as the Barebones
Parliament) meets, sitting until 12th December. Its purpose is to
find a stable governmental form for the English Commonwealth, but
internal conflict leads to failure, and on 16th December Oliver
Cromwell is established as Lord Protector.
